Working on all the things needed downtown is a big job, and we really appreciate the help recently from Heard, McElroy and Vestal, the Shreveport Aquarium, Barksdale Air Force Base and Chimp Haven!
The Aquarium pitched in with volunteers on Saturday, Nov. 4 to help clean up the serious overgrowth around the Waddell A-Truss Bridge on Cross Bayou. The cleaning helped clear out the line of sight to the bridge so motorists driving by can catch a better glimpse of the bridge, one of only two like it in the U.S.
The CPA firm of Heard, McElroy and Vestal came with tools and ready to work on Friday, Nov. 3 as part of the yearly ‘Give Back’ day.
11 eager and energetic HMV staffers spent nearly a full day cleaning up overgrown trees, weeds, vines and other unsightly ‘garden spots’ around downtown.
By the end of the day, they had multiple giant piles of garden debris waiting for pickup. Our thanks to both groups for their hard work and desire to see downtown look better. Kudos all around!
